2026 Public Art Spotlight: City of Surrey
Sanctuaries of Belonging is a collaborative public artwork by Alex Proba and Keerat Kaur that celebrates Surrey’s South Asian communities through sculpture and bilingual poetry, exploring themes of belonging, cultural identity, and shared public space. The project marks Alex Proba’s first permanent public artwork in Canada and Keerat Kaur’s first work to enter the City of Surrey Public Art Collection, representing a significant addition to Surrey’s growing collection of contemporary public art.
